Our vision for every
student is to ensure they are provided with opportunities to extend and enhance
their learning. Below is a list of some of the extracurricular
groups at Mooloolaba State School. During Term 1 each year, the
extracurricular groups and timetables are determined and information
is provided to students who may be interested. Some
groups are only available for specific year levels; others may
require an audition and some have limited spaces.
Debating competition
Students train and compete in an interschool debating competition designed
to improve their public speaking and reasoning skills
Young Scholars program
Students participate a monthly program provided by
Mountain Creek State High School. The program is designed to provide enrichment
opportunities for highly motivated students to further develop their skills in
critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication and innovation.
Voices on the Coast Literary Festival
Held at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC)
where students engage with writers, illustrators and poets in exciting
workshops and presentations.
Readers’ Cup Competition
This program challenges our students to read widely,
work collaboratively and continue to develop a love of reading. We have a year
6 interschool competition. It is complemented by our own school wide
competition from years 3 to year 6.
ICAS UNSW (International Competitions & Assessment for Schools)
These assessments are independent, skills based with
a competition element organised by the University of NSW for our students in
Years 2 -6.
Sunshine Coast Mathematics Tournament
Our
high achieving mathematic students are given an opportunity to test their
skills against other students in the region in a stimulating and challenging
environment.
Writing competitions
Various
literary competitions encourage our aspiring writers an opportunity to develop
their literary skills by entering various literary competitions.
