Year 4 Goombuckar Bus Incursion

Did you see the big white bus on the oval? It belongs to Karen and Lauren (Indigenous Aboriginal women) who were visiting our year 4 students.

Karen is a story teller. The children enjoyed listening to her yarn about the legend of Maroochy and learn about traditional Indigenous lifestyle and folklore. They looked around inside the bus in amazement at the spears, boomerangs, paintings and other artefacts.
Lauren is an artist. She taught the children how to sponge paint onto bark from the nearby melaleuca trees (paper bark) and decorate it with Aboriginal art symbols. They also did their own face painting. Many masterpieces were created that day. What a fantastic day and we cant wait to see them again in 2019.
